Andy came to stay and we did things like going to parks and aquariums, making music and eating lots and lots and lots of food. I also gave him something to take back to the slow-cooker of Fukuoka to work on:
If things work out, Andy will draw something and send it back to me, then I'll draw something and send it back and so on until we've filled the book with some kind of narrative.
This was pretty much inspired by the notebookery project that I'm also going to (eventually) be a part of. That one's like 60 people all over the world, this one is just two so it should be easier to keep track of. You would hope! Aha, aha, ha.
After that Eurovision bonanza last week I found myself completely (and, in my opinion, understandably) unable to post on this blog. I'll fill in the blanks now (from the throne of Monday) but those were positively treatises on Eurovision, so it wasn't like I didn't put in the hours last week.
Saturday night I got drunk and drew some pictures of people on the board where I post. Like this one:
Considering I was pretty trolleyed when I got home and I was drawing with a brushtip marker, freehand with no correction, I'm pretty happy how they turned out. I should probably drink and draw more often.

Recently I had to teach some very young kids, which necessitated the use of wax crayons. Now, it's been many, many years since I used wax crayons, and the moment I touched them to the paper the sheer joy of making those big streaks of colour was wonderful.
Also, today I looked at my last.fm page for the first time in months, and was surprised to see that my recent all-out adoration of Mukai Shutoku and Zazen Boys has rocketed them to the top of my favourite artists list.
How could I possibly combine these two apparently chalk-and-cheese concepts? Easy, I went to town and bought some wax crayons and drew a picture of Yoshikane Sou a.k.a. Casio Man, the lead guitarist of Zazen Boys.
I kinda went a little overboard on the colours there. Then again I do have twenty different colours to choose from, how could I be expected to stick to just black for his clothes and pink for his ridiculous sun glasses?
