Spotted by Yuki on TV the other day, Shiina Ringo in a new Watering KissMint ad:
A pretty awesome ad where Ringo-chan has a Watering KissMint (ah, that product name doesn't even seem strange to me anymore) and then decides to do a moonwalk and a really cool pose. I'm for it!
And of course this led me to find out that Tokyo Jihen have a new single coming out:
Hmmm, I'm not sure about the single really, but the video is great and also includes moonwalking. I like to think that this whole thing is some conceptual art project paying tribute to Michael Jackson in the most deadpan way possible, but who can say. I really should have known about this single before of course, but apparently news broke while I was out of the country, and while there is a really good Shiina Ringo English language forum - that place is just exhausting. I don't mean to be horrible, but I really can't be bothered to spend any time there. I feel my life force being sucked away as soon as I even think about commenting there.
This post, whenever it's supposed to be dated, was written on Tuesday 29th October. Phew, man, not sure I'm going to be able to paper over the gap this time! Sadly with more time I can actually spend time doing things I want to do rather than forcing myself to write a blog just so that I'm doing something other than work. So we'll see how this goes. Also Andy came to stay a couple of days ago so it's going to be harder than ever to fill the yawning vacant content-hungry boxes of this "blog".
Many good things have happened though. Me finding that there's an amazing animated video for Shiina Ringo's Tsugou No Ii Karada for example:
Awesome. More tomorrow. I mean today. I mean...
E-e-e-edit!
A) As pointed out in the comments, I mean September 29th. Not that I can't travel forwards in time when I want to, it's just that I didn't do that this time.
B) Youtube took down the Ringo-chan video, which leaves me with the option of trying to find a new streaming link, or just telling you to track it down yourself. Guess which one I'm going to do!
It's worth the effort!
Man, I kept seeing all these ads for Matsu-Jun's new TV drama "Smile" a month ago, and since Matsu-Jun always looks like a trainee-date-rapist to me I turned over sharpish. I didn't realise there was a new Shiina Ringo song as the theme tune. Anyway it's out properly as her new single this week and it's pretty good:
I'd imagine it's a damn sight better than the drama it's tacked on to (Japanese TV drama themes are always just tacked on, there's never any pretense of them having anything to do with the drama in question, they're just cross-marketed pop songs). It's nice and I'm excited about her new album in June. Ariamaru Tomi translates, or so I'm told, as something like "Excessive Wealth" which fits with that awesome video.
